Understanding the Home Warranty HVAC Repair Process
A home warranty HVAC request generally begins with the warranty provider and follows the terms of the homeowner’s agreement. The provider—not Maintenance First—determines coverage and authorization.

Start with the warranty provider
Review your agreement and contact the provider using its published claim process. Ask whether a claim or work order is required, how the provider assigns service, what diagnostic steps are authorized, and what fees or limits may apply. Provider rules differ; do not assume one company’s process applies to another.
Work order and diagnostic findings
If a work order is assigned, provide its number, the service address, equipment type, and a concise description of the issue. A diagnostic visit records findings; it does not by itself mean the repair is covered or approved.
Authorization and potential costs
Wait for the provider’s coverage decision and authorization before arranging work you expect it to cover. Ask who approves repairs, how non-covered items are handled, whether an additional cost requires your agreement, and what happens if the system needs replacement rather than repair.
Separate replacement planning
A replacement estimate may be a separate process from a warranty work order. Maintenance First can explain diagnostics and available next steps, but does not decide coverage or claim that it participates with a specific warranty provider.
